Anonymous asked: So you're smoking, but if you're vegan and not straight edge you're doing it wrong? Incredibly hypocritical and the definition of a sell-out. Anything for a buck right?
Re-read my post. I said, “If you’re straight edge, and not vegan, you’re doing it wrong”. Though it doesn’t make any real difference, what I did tonight was technically fake smoking (breathing smoke in and out of my mouth as opposed to inhaling it), as a part of a fetish role play for a client.
Although I do not drink, smoke, or use drugs, and probably never will, I am not straight edge, and have not claimed to be for several years. I personally feel that the ‘straight edge’ label is tacky and trite. From my perspective, straight edge doesn’t have anything to do with punk rock ideals or a moral lifestyle anymore…it’s a scene overrun by sexist, racist, homophobic jocks and bros that fetishize x-swatches and varsity jackets.
So, I ‘sell out’ to hustle a bunch of money occasionally, and you hardline omnivorous and vegetarian assholes *~hold tight~* to your little list of unwritten rules that Ian McKaye wrote for you 30 years ago, probably before you were even born, and contribute to one of the largest institutions of cruelty on the planet. I take back what I said, you’re definitely doing it right.
